One of Odesa’s most recognizable figures – Duke de Richelieu, watching over the city from the top of the Potemkin Stairs.
I painted him in cool blue-grey tones against a warm, textured ochre background, keeping the monument recognizable while giving it a more personal, contemporary watercolor feel.
For me, this is not just a painting of a statue. It is a small portrait of Odesa itself — elegant, slightly theatrical, historic, and impossible to confuse with anywhere else.
This is a one-of-a-kind original watercolor, hand-painted and signed by me.
